Description of work undertaken during porting:
RJA has read through the Xwiki documentation and used their search engine. I found the following information about their portlet development. Apparently it is being developed to work with eXo Portal container.
See http://www.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Dev/XWikiExoIntegration
Xiaobo has now installed it as a web app in CHEF and by-passed the internal authentication. Ian Boston at Cambridge did the same thing in Sakai and the two have corresponded also with Chuck.
Problems encountered: Sakai/ CHEF do not use JSR-168 so a kludge needed!
Ongoing support issues: Will be supported by US Sakai developers?
